INR3081 - Contemporary International Problems
I took INR3081 - Contemporary International Problems during the Fall 2024 semester. In the course, I had the opportunity of completing an assignment titled, "Video Assessment #2," which allowed me to explore the wide-spread government surveillance in China, as well as the human rights violations experienced by civilians in China, particularly the Uyghur population. As part of the assignment, students were instructed to watch the documentary, "China - Surveillance State or the Way of the Future?" by DW Documentary, provide a summary demonstrating understanding of the topic, and apply the knowledge to two main concepts studied in the course, which included Social Constructivism and Securitization Theory.

INR4075 - International Protection of Human Rights
Watch "Gonzales Carreño v. Spain (CEDAW)" by Samara Aguilar Truebas
I took INR4075 - International Protection of Human Rights during the Spring 2024 semester. In the course, I had the opportunity of learning more about CEDAW, which stands for the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the CEDAW case Gonzalez Carreño v. Spain (2014). In Gonzalez Carreño v. Spain, CEDAW found that the Spanish state contributed to gender-based discrimination and that the rights of Angela Gonzalez Carreño, who lost her daughter, Andrea Rascon Gonzalez, to vicarious violence, were violated. I completed an oral presentation on CEDAW and Gonzalez Carreño v. Spain, where I explored important information on CEDAW's purpose and system and analyzed Gonzalez Carreño v. Spain.
SYP3456 - Societies in the World
I took SYP3456 - Societies in the World during the Fall 2024 semester. In the course, I had the opportunity of learning about how essential things for human survival (e.g., food, medicine, and housing) are treated as commodities, as well as the implications of commodification. I was given the opportunity to explore this topic in an assignment titled, "Discussion Post #14," reinforcing my argument with the evidence presented in Global Problems and the Culture of Capitalism (2019) by Richard H. Robbin and Rachel A. Dowty.
